This placement focuses on two major education initiatives: Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell (EBSF) and Explore the Arts (ETA). The primary focus will be assisting with the planning and execution of the EBSF Summer intensive, a training program for pre-professional dancers, ages 14-18, taught exclusively by legendary ballerina, Suzanne Farrell. The intern participates in the planning, execution, and day-to-day operations of the program. . The ETA program is primarily focused on post-secondary learners and other special projects. ETA programming includes lectures, discussions, seminars, master classes, and open rehearsals designed to deeply engage audiences and enrich their experience of the performing arts.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is important. The intern must be comfortable interacting with large groups of people. Experience working with young people is a plus. A background in dance is helpful but not required. Evening and weekend hours are required.

Project description

The primary focus will be assisting with the planning and execution of the EBSF Summer intensive. EBSF duties include, but are not limited to, communicating with students, parents, and contractors, gathering and organizing participants' information, creating information packets for use by students during the program, activity planning, observing classes, taking attendance, escorting students, and additional administrative tasks.

In addition to EBSF, the intern will be part of the Explore the Arts (ETA) team. The intern participates in the development, planning, marketing, and execution of programs in the areas of ballet and contemporary dance, possibly other genres as needed. The intern will assist with any scheduled ETA events and preliminary planning of the 2018-2019 season including the development of marketing materials, research into prospective lecturers, performers, and target audiences, and basic logistics for the upcoming season.
