The Kennedy Center

Music Education Intern 2
National Symphony Orchestra and General Music Education

The Kennedy Center Music Education programs introduce young people, families, and adults to genres including, but not limited to, opera, jazz, classical and new music, hip-hop, and electronic music by presenting specially designed live performances and events; developing and promoting talented young people through training programs and competitions; and creating and distributing digital and written resources. The Intern assists staff on all Music Education projects, with particular focus on the NSO and its In-School Ensemble project. We are looking for a passionate individual who believes in the power of music to inspire and enrich one's life. We seek a creative, detail-oriented and organized individual interested in arts management and arts education outside of the classroom. Intern may have the opportunity to observe workshops, rehearsals, and performances along with the NSO Youth Fellowship program. No genre-specific experience is necessary. Some evening and weekend work required.

NSO In-School Ensemble Program and Summer Music Institute

Intern will solicit dates from participating In-School Ensemble musician groups, send invitation to schools, coordinate schedules, and follow-up with performance details. Intern will act as lead contact for students and parents during the audition and registration processes of the Summer Music Institute.

Intern will support other Music Education programs during that semester, as needed
