Institutional Affairs Intern

The Department of Institutional Affairs’ mission is to expand the Kennedy Center’s national and international profile. The Department manages the Center’s government affairs, protocol, and diplomatic relations, oversees the governance of the Center’s Board of Trustees, and manages the Community Advisory Board and Latino Advisory Council. We are seeking an intern with an interest in politics and policy, strong organizational skills, excellent communication and writing abilities, a self-starter attitude, and the desire to learn about the intersection of government and arts/culture.

Major Events: The Spring Intern will work with Institutional Affairs staff on formulating guest lists and managing invitation correspondence for the Spring Gala and the Washington National Opera's Season Opening Gala, the SHIFT Festival of American Orchestras, among other special events.

Board of Trustees and Committee Meetings: The Spring Intern will provide support and assistance to the Institutional Affairs staff on the logistics and execution of the Spring Board of Trustees Meeting, the Community Advisory Board meeting and other Board Committee activities.

Writing Projects: The Spring Intern will be asked to develop correspondence being sent to Congressional Offices, the White House and other government offices, as well as newsletters, daily news updates and briefing materials to be used by Kennedy Center senior staff.
