Institutional Affairs Intern

Department description

The Department of Institutional Affairs' mission is to expand the Kennedy Center's national and international profile. The Department manages the Center's government affairs, protocol, and diplomatic relations, oversees the governance of the Center's Board of Trustees, and manages the Community Advisory Board and Latino Advisory Council. We are seeking an intern with an interest in politics and policy, strong organizational skills, excellent communication and writing abilities, a self-starter attitude, and the desire to learn about the intersection of government and arts/culture.

Project description

Major Events: The Summer Intern will work with Institutional Affairs staff on formulating guest lists and managing correspondence for the NSO Summer Music Institute events, special embassy invites, National Dance Day, the Washington National Opera's Opera in the Outfield, among other special events.

Board of Trustees and Committee Meetings: The Summer Intern will provide support and assistance to the Institutional Affairs staff on the logistics and execution of the Fall Board of Trustees Meeting, the Latino Advisory Council meeting and other Board Committee activities.

Writing Projects: The Summer Intern will be asked to develop correspondence being sent to Congressional Offices, the White House and other government offices, as well as newsletters, daily news updates and briefing materials to be used by Kennedy Center senior staff.
