Classical Press Intern

Department description

The Kennedy Center Public Relations department is responsible for promoting the activities and initiatives of the institution in local, national, and international media outlets. The department works year-round to publicize current performances, inspire interest in future programming, and project the mission, vision, and values of the Kennedy Center's support for the arts. We are looking for self-motivated, detail-oriented individuals who enjoy interacting with people and building connections and are able to perform well under time-constraints and heavy workloads. Passion for the performing arts is preferred.

Project description

Press Releases and Media relations: Interns will work with press representatives compose and edit press releases for specific NSO, WNO, or other classical music programming. Intern will build media lists, distribute press releases, track coverage, and help facilitate interviews.

Classical Music playbills: Intern will work closely with supervisor and press representatives to draft and edit programs for classical music programming. The intern will be responsible for following style guides pertaining to formatting and language specific to the NSO and/or WNO programs. An excellent grasp of grammar and a fine attention to detail will be required for this project.
