The Kennedy Center

Education Programs and Productions

Department description

The mission of the Kennedy Center's education division is to set the national bar for arts learning, creativity, and accessibility by providing powerful, culturally relevant experiences for all - every art form, every age, everywhere. To serve that mission, Dance Education, as part of the Education Programs and Productions team, seeks to extend the reach of Kennedy Center dance resources as far as possible; to provide context, vocabulary, exposure, access, and participation opportunities to the wealth of dance styles, expressions, and dance artists in our country to a diverse audience reflective of the demographics in our region and our nation, and through that create a model of what a robust, accessible, and inclusive dance culture can look like; and to build greater cross-cultural understanding through the universal language of dance. Dance education programming spans 3 categories – Career Trajectory programs, learning through dance, and learning about dance.
