NSO Operations Intern

Department description

The National Symphony Orchestra Operations department produces a wide variety of symphonic, pops, education, and televised programs, both in the Kennedy Center, in the community, and on tour. The NSO is looking for a passionate individual who wants to learn firsthand how to produce orchestral concerts and gain valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional symphony orchestra.

Project description

Concert Production: The intern will contribute to the planning and smooth running of NSO concerts through a weekly set of responsibilities, including preparing technical schedules, arranging keyboard tunings, and other miscellaneous production tasks. The intern will have opportunities to shadow and assist NSO staff backstage during rehearsals and concerts, both at the Kennedy Center and offsite. Operations & Departmental: The intern will support the Operations team's administrative work, through tasks including issuing meeting agendas, submitting purchase orders, and maintaining rehearsal room calendars. The intern will support projects in other departments, such as staffing NSO Auditions and assisting with community outreach events.
