Kennedy Center Dance Lab, August 4-17, 2019

The NEW Kennedy Center Dance Lab (KCDL) is for you!

Kennedy Center Dance Lab aims to empower young dancers to be impactful change-makers and leaders by providing them with critical career tools, impactful experiences, and high-caliber training to support their growth as the next generation of dance industry professionals. Curated by an Artistic Lead, this 2-week program features:

  • Ballet and Modern Technique with Master Teachers
  • Master classes with renowned instructors in a variety of dance styles and genres
  • Creativity and Choreography Labs
  • Workshops in dance wellness and injury prevention
  • Intimate conversations with dance industry professionals
  • Discussions about critical issues in dance and the role of “Citizen Artistry”
  • A mock audition with industry representatives

With a focus on strengthened technique, increased versatility, and informed decision making in dance careers, this program’s participants will leave with:

  • A personalized dance health and injury prevention plan
  • An artistic statement, resume, professional dance photos, and goals for continued training
  • Individualized feedback from master teachers
  • Industry connections
  • Expanded knowledge of possibilities and opportunities in the dance field

  1. Complete the online application, which includes 2 short essays, video submissions, a letter of recommendation, and a $30 application fee.
  2. Attend the audition on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 4-7pm at the Kennedy Center

Program Schedule

Kennedy Center Dance Lab will run the first two full weeks in August. For 2019, dates will be August 4-17, approximately 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily.

Tuition & Fees

The Kennedy Center Dance Lab is committed to working with students and families to make high-level dance education affordable for all, regardless of their financial situation. Scholarships, fee waivers, and other support are available to any student accepted to our program.

Tuition: $1200*

*For the 2019 pilot year, The Kennedy Center Dance Lab will offer full-tuition scholarships to any students accepted into our inaugural class.
